Everyday Care & Cleaning
- Wipe spilled fuel from the case promptly. Fuel and solvents may affect some finishes.
- Check the flint and wick regularly. Avoid repeatedly bending the lid or modifying the insert.
- Use genuine Zippo supplies and choose a cleaning method suited to the case material.
Care by Finish
- High Polish Chrome: Use a suitable chrome polish or cleaner.
- High Polish Brass: Use a brass cleaner. The protective coating on brass gradually wears with normal use.
- Brushed finishes: Wipe gently in the direction of the grain. Avoid scouring pads and other rough materials.
- Matte or translucent colored finishes: Use a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner.
- Laser-exposed brass: Tarnishing is a natural characteristic of brass. Clean with a soft cloth and a suitable brass cleaner.
- Sterling silver: Use a soft cloth and a non-abrasive silver cleaner.
- Antique finishes: The finish wears naturally with use. Avoid alcohol and spilled lighter fuel.
- Plated or gold-tone areas: Clean gently and avoid abrasives. If you are unsure of the material, contact customer service first.
