Choosing fuel and consumables

Identify fuel, butane and rechargeable products before choosing supplies.

01 Match the insert

Do all inserts use the same fuel?

No. Wick-based fuel inserts use lighter fluid, butane inserts use suitable butane, and arc inserts are rechargeable. Follow the instructions for your exact model. Do not mix fuels or modify the insert.

Wick, wheel and absorbent packing identify a traditional fuel insert. Butane inserts use a refill valve; arc inserts use electrodes and charging. If unsure, provide the model and photos before filling. The outer case alone does not identify the fuel.

02 133ml / 355ml capacities

Why doesn’t 355 ml of fuel weigh 355 g?

Millilitres measure volume and grams measure mass; they are not interchangeable. A full-can measurement also includes the container. If you suspect leakage or an unusual fill level, keep the packaging and send the batch details and photos for review.

Check the container label, intended use and full product name. Capacity does not make lighter fluid a substitute for butane; rechargeable products must not be filled. Match the name and formulation when choosing an SDS.

03 When to replace consumables

How often should I replace fuel, flints or the wick?

There is no fixed schedule for every user. Fuel use and evaporation vary with use and conditions. Check the flint when sparks weaken or stop, and maintain a carboned wick according to the instructions. Replace the wick when it has become too short after trimming.

Does a blackened wick mean the lighter is faulty?

Carbon builds up with use and does not necessarily mean a fault. If lighting performance is affected, follow the official trimming or replacement instructions. Let the lighter cool and keep it away from ignition sources before maintenance. Contact us if you need help.

What if the flint wheel is stuck or produces no sparks?

Do not force the wheel. Check whether the flint is worn out or incorrectly installed and follow the replacement instructions. If it remains stuck, contact us with photos. Do not drill or widen the flint tube with sharp tools.

04 Before and after refilling

How do I refill safely?

Refill a cool lighter in a ventilated area away from ignition sources. Remove the insert, lift the felt pad and slowly saturate the packing with lighter fuel without overfilling. Reassemble, dry your hands and the lighter, close the fuel can and clear any spilled fuel before lighting.

Store supplies as labelled, away from heat and children. Stop use if a container, seal or product leaks and contact support. Do not test a suspected leak by repeated ignition.
